Presentation of project results for Lithuania's teachers

Generation0101 logoAt the very end of summer a final conference in Lithuania of project Generation0101 was organised where teachers from all across Lithuania were invited. During the event the project was introduced with a big emphasis on the whole training structure and training material as well as possible results, that can be achieved in a short time frame. The ICT training is of great importance to teacher in Lithuania, as there is a lack of IT specialists and the interest is ICT related subjects and carriers is still not big enough. The courses and materials that were created during the project and introduced during the conference seemed like a step in a right direction, where teachers have more tools to educate and interest their students.

Project „Generation 0101“ and the final hackathon in Vilnius

4.5 final dayProject Generation 0101 had an ambitious goal. During it young people from several countries were able to learn new ICT related skills that are valuable in today’s work market and introduces youngsters to potential carrier paths. After trainings the best participants were granted opportunities to travel abroad and participate in international hackathons where they would create ICT solutions for NGOs that need such help. One of the hackathons was organised in the Vilnius, Lithuania by association Langas į ateitį.

Safer Internet Project in Lithuania continues

meskisIn the end of June, Lithuanian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) received the news, that European Commission is approving its partial funding to continue SIC activities in Lithuania, as well as other European countries. The Safer Internet Project in Lithuania is being implemented by four partners’ consortium: the Centre of Information Technologies in Education under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania, the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania, NGO “Child line” and association “Langas į ateitį”.

Safer internet for kids in summer camps

saugus internete introAssociation "Langas į ateitį" and the whole team of Lithuanian Safer Internet Center actively spent this June visiting children summer camps to raise awareness about online safety. 10 summer camps were visited, where 700 primary school kids have participated in entertaining and educational events called „Safe on the Internet during Summer Time!“.

Through Coding Basics to IT Careers

As on June 2015, youth unemployment (26 thousand) rate reaches 16,6 per cent in Lithuania (EU average is 20,7). 72 per cent of them have secondary school, college or even university degree. IT sector may hire at least 15-20 thousand new IT professionals over the next 5 years, but labour market and education system can offer only small part of this demand. One of the main reasons of the shortage of IT specialists in Europe is the lack of youth awareness in digital jobs.

The pilot training of Generation0101 has started in Lithuania

All the invited youngsters gathered in Vilnius and Kaunas, two largest cities in Lithuania, and started their participation in the training. The training marathon was started by e. journalism module in Vilnius. The participants began their acquaintance with the basics of journalism and e. journalism, the ins and outs of the e. journalist profession and a wide range of activities that an e. journalist must know how to perform on a daily basis.
